Santee · Virtual IOP
For the Santee residents we work with, Virtual IOP is not a consolation prize — it is the format we recommend on purpose. Our only facility sits about 77 miles northwest in Laguna Hills, so instead of asking East County families to drive SR-52, I-805, and I-5 several evenings a week, we deliver the complete Intensive Outpatient program over secure video — the same clinicians, the same groups, the same schedule — to anyone attending from within California.

Virtual IOP is the same IOP curriculum delivered via secure video for California residents. It runs 3 evenings/week via secure video, and is one of four levels of care we offer along a continuum from full-day PHP down to weekly aftercare.
Life in Santee is organized around the drive. It is a bedroom suburb whose residents already head west into Mission Valley and downtown San Diego for work, and stacking a 150-mile round trip up the coast on top of that is exactly what would cause treatment to fall apart. The people we see from neighborhoods like Carlton Hills, Sky Ranch, and the Town Center are working homeowners, suburban parents, and established older adults — exactly the group for whom a fixed in-person program 77 miles away is not realistic. Virtual IOP takes the geography off the table while keeping the full clinical intensity, and because every Santee resident attends from inside California, state telehealth licensure is satisfied without anyone leaving East County.
Across three evenings a week — roughly nine hours of clinical care — Virtual IOP carries over the entire structure of our in-person program: the same Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills groups, the same process groups, and the same weekly individual sessions. Psychiatric medication management happens by secure telehealth as well, so a Santee resident can complete an entire episode of care, from intake through step-down, without ever driving up to Orange County.
The flexibility matters most for how Santee is actually built. A commuter who spends the day on the freeways heading into the city, a parent holding a household together near Santee Trolley Square, or an older resident in Carlton Hills who would rather not drive an unfamiliar coastal route at night can all attend from a private room at home. The evening schedule is deliberate: it preserves the workday and the school day, so getting structured treatment does not cost a Santee resident their job, their classes, or their caregiving.
Mental-health symptoms and substance use are addressed side by side here, so the same Virtual IOP team handles the dual-diagnosis work directly instead of sending you out for a separate referral. We confirm at intake that telehealth is the clinically appropriate level of care for your situation — higher-acuity needs, including medically supervised detox or stabilization, may require an in-person program first, and we are honest about that and coordinate the referral. We are an outpatient provider, not a 24/7 crisis service; for emergencies Santee residents should call 911 or 988, or the San Diego County Access & Crisis Line at 888-724-7240, and use Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa as the nearest ER.
Virtual IOP runs 3 evenings/week via secure video. The same IOP curriculum delivered via secure video for California residents. Manifest is an outpatient program — not a medical detox or residential facility; when supervised withdrawal is needed first, we coordinate a referral. Insurance verification is free and confidential, and no referral is required to begin.
Virtual IOP is part of a connected continuum of care. Many adults move between levels as their needs change — stepping up to Virtual IOP from weekly therapy, or stepping down to it after a more intensive level. You can read the full program details on our Virtual IOP page.
In crisis? Call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, 24/7) or 911 for an emergency.
