Key takeaways

  • Curriculum, schedule, and clinical team are identical to in-person IOP.
  • Available only to California residents, per state licensure rules.
  • You will need a private space with reliable internet and a webcam-equipped device.
  • Sessions are not recorded; HIPAA privacy protections apply to everything you share.

Who Virtual IOP is for

  • You live in California but can't reasonably commute to our Laguna Hills office three evenings a week.
  • You're caring for a family member at home and can't be away for multi-hour blocks.
  • You have a job that requires you to be available immediately after work and the commute is a deal-breaker.
  • You're stepping down from PHP or inpatient care and remote treatment is the right next step.

What's the same as in-person IOP

Curriculum, schedule, clinical team. Group rooms are the same small, closed cohort model — you'll be with the same people for the duration of your stay. Individual therapy and psychiatry appointments are also delivered via secure video.

What's different

  • Setup. You'll need a private space with a closed door, a reliable internet connection, and a webcam-equipped device. We send a tech checklist before you start.
  • Group dynamics. Virtual group has a different feel from in-person group — many people prefer one or the other. We help you decide which fits your situation.
  • Crisis response. Because we're remote, we'll talk through a safety plan that includes local emergency contacts. We can refer to in-person care any time it's clinically indicated.

Technical and privacy notes

Sessions use a HIPAA-compliant video platform. Recordings are never made unless you and your clinician explicitly agree in writing for a specific clinical reason (rare). Standard HIPAA privacy protections apply to everything you share.[1]
